This competition began as one in which home brewers would brew a beer to take along to their Big Lunch on Sun 18th July. However the feedback we have had is that the home brewers of the UK do not like to rush these things and would like more time to get their entries in.
We understand that all good things come to those who wait, so have decided to extend the deadline of the competition until the end of the year. This should give plenty of time to come up with a fabulous beer and be in with a chance of working with our Head Brewer, Stuart Howe, and having your beer brewed commercially at Sharp's.
The Big Lunch Beer Challenge is about finding the rising stars in home brewing. We invite the home brewers of the UK to brew a special beer (of not more than 5.5% ABV) and send in six bottles to the Sharp's judging panel.
Sharp's Brewery is based at Rock in Cornwall and is the brewer of one of the UK’s fastest growing cask beer brands, Doom Bar. At Sharp's we recognize that the art of brewing is not the sole domain of commercial brewers and that ‘home brewers’ play a key role in this country's great brewing heritage.
The prize for the winner will be to work with our Head Brewer, Stuart Howe, at the brewery in Rock to brew a commercial batch of the winning beer.
Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
